About Thailand
Thailand is a Southeast Asian country. It's known for tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples displaying figures of Buddha. In Bangkok, the capital, an ultramodern cityscape rises next to quiet canalside communities and the iconic temples of Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew).
The population of Thailand has grown to approximately 71.6 million.
There are nearly 114 different people groups and 80 of them are classified as unreached (UPGs) in Thailand alone. The three main groups are the Central Thai, Esan, and Northern Thai. The most prominent Unreached People Group (UPGs) in Northern Thailand are the Khon Muang. However, 12.5% of the population in Chiang Rai is different “hill tribe” groups such as the Akha and Hmong people groups. The vast majority of these people are Buddhist as Buddhism is the main religion of Thailand. Statistically, only 1.13% of the population in Thailand are professing Christians.
Northern Thailand Impact Ministries (N.T.I.M.) has been making an impact in Chiang Rai for almost 2 decades! God has been faithful to provide 6 Thai national partners to work alongside NTIM. These 6 people are among the first in their families to believe in Jesus Christ. They represent 4 different unreached people groups the Muang, Hmong, Mien, and Akha.
10-40 Window
Northern Thailand is in the heart of the 10/40 window, an area designated by missiologists as the least evangelized and most impoverished area of the entire earth. NTIM is strategically placed in the 10/40 window so that we can aid in bringing the nations to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The below video explains in detail what exactly we mean when we say “10/40 window”. We ask that you join with us in praying and working to see the 10/40 window reached with the message of salvation.
